Weekend adventures

Saturday we were invited to go hiking with other gay couples, but opted on doing our own hiking elsewhere. Robert didn't feel like being interviewed by all the couples there. We had just gone through this on Thursday at the Father's First meeting. So, we headed up to Bowman's Bay to go hiking and spend the day. We stopped in Mount Vernon to get some lunch. The food was superb! I had homemade mozzarella slices on ciabatta bread with pesto, sprouts, lettuce and cucumber. It was fantastic! Robert ordered meatloaf sandwich. He said his was really very good. After lunch at the park, we headed for the trails.
The scenery is incredible and I felt the Creator very close to me. I always feel G-d's presence when I am in nature, moreso than I ever do in shul. I have always said that if I am intended to be a Rabbi, I want my shul to have glass walls and face a forest on both sides.
While on our hike, we saw a baby seal playing in Puget Sound, crabs hidden under rocks (they were very cute, especially the babies) lots of birds and flowers. Not to mention lots of different types of trees. While on our last 5 minutes of our hike, we are going down one side of the mountain and I take to big of a step. I lose control and am forced into running down the mountain. I knew that I was going to eat it somewhere so I scanned the area in front of me. I saw a tree stump and aimed to grab that as I ran by. Well, I grabbed it alright. My leg wrapped around the stump as if they were long lost relatives. I really thought I had broken my leg, but did not hear any snap, but I sure felt alot of pain. Robert climbed back up to where I was with Abby and helped me straighten out my leg. I sat there for a few moments and made sure I hadn't broken any parts. Nope, I hadn't. I hobbled my way back to the truck as my leg began to swell right around the new cap. I have several cuts and quite a few bruises and scrapes, but I am able to use my leg, albeit with some discomfort. Next time, I will have hiking shoes on instead of tennis.
We then went and visited Robert's mother for a few hours. We met her new husband, whom is from England. Nice guy and quite funny. Robert's mother didn't chatter the whole time, like last time. She and I actually shared a nice little conversation and I enjoyed the visit with her, despite being in pain. Her husband, John, gave me some ointment to put on my scrapes and cuts to numb the pain and to kill any bugs. We then headed to several car dealerships to look at autos after the shops are closed. I hate dealing with car salespeople. We then headed home for a nice hot shower and some bandages.

Sunday, we just lounged about the house and went to the market in the afternoon. We then watched the 3rd Harry Potter movie on DVD (I had just bought it while at Sam's Club) and then went to bed.

I am now sitting at the computer ready to start my job hunt for the day. I have already had a cup of tea, but shall now, as well have a bit of toast with raspberry jam for breakfast, even though it is almost lunch time.

Hugs,
M
